The Kewanee Park District offers 2 day camps and 1 special needs camps throughout the summer for children ages 5-10 years old.  All camps are run by Sharon DeSmit who has been the director since the first day camp in 1998.  2016 Daycamps were a great success with numbers reaching capacity.  We hope all campers had a great time and look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Camps are held once a month in June, July and August and run Monday through Friday from 9:00am – Noon each day.  Monday – Wednesday the camps are held at the Shelter House at Windmont Park. On Thursday of the camp, the campers get to go to the Oasis Family Aquatic Center – weather permitting.  On Friday, camp participants go bowling at Dura Bowl and enjoy lunch at Happy Joe’s.

The camps also welcome special visitors during the week such as the RaeAnn Tucker (Henry Co Health Dept),  Officers from the Kewanee Police Department and Fire Fighters from the Kewanee Fire Department, Dick & Mary Jo Rouse (Therapy Dogs), Bob Plum (Happy Joe’s), Cheryl Geitner (University of Illinois Extension).

Each session is $30.00 and registration is limited to the first 30 campers per session.  Registrations for the day camps can be picked up at the Kewanee Park District Office.

Hi! Im a disabled mother of two wonderful boys, one of which was a junior counselor. His name is Richard Rodriguez. I am aware that you are no longer receiving applications which is very unfortunate for me. I please ask that you give my son a chance to participate. His name is Roy Quintana he is a 10 year old gifted student. I would really like for him to be a part of your camp since I am not able to take care of him because I’m disabled and on dialysis. I would be honored if someone can call me at 305 989-6091. Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to speaking to someone soon.

We are still accepting registrations for both of our DayCamp sessions and also still accepting registrations for our Special Needs DayCamp. We will give your contact information to our DayCamp coordinator Sharon DeSmit and she will be able to help any questions you might have.
      Thank you

  2. I would like to say thank you to so many wonderful leaders, guests, and volunteers that came to Windmont Park for the Kewanee Park District Summer Day Camp programs held this summer. Sandy Thomas, Kyria Eastman, Jenni Eastman, Jessie Smith, Officers Pence, Kingdon, and Underwood from the Kewanee Police Department, Rae Ann Tucker, Kewanee Fire Department, Darcy Eggimann, Mary Jo and Dick Rouse, Cheryl Geitner, and the staff at the Oasis Pool and parks, including Michelle Anderson and Brian Johnson. Also to Bob Plum from Happy Joes and Shelli Sauer from Dura Bowl. I could not run these camps without all of them. We are a team and that’s what makes this work. The best part of camp is the awesome kids and the fun we have in the summertime! I hope to see all of you next year. Thanks again. You Rock!
